Resource constraint and calendar

Hi all,

This sw looks great, but coming from MS Project I'm having some issues in finding the same functions.

1) Resources don't seem to be pipelined. Ie if I assign a resource to 2 tasks, these tasks can appear in parallel, even if I set the resource max to 100%.#

2) Sometimes the resource calendar does not work. eg in the standard calendar I set christmas as non working day and as working day in a "supplier" calendar. Still the "supplier" tasks skip the xmas day.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Gam

Thanks for the comments... here is a reply that hopefully helps.

1) That would be correct.  If you actually show the resource histogram as a subscreen you will see an overallocation of resources as both tasks are occurring.  We currently do manual resource leveling where you can see the overalloction and decide to move the task.  There is a great debate on manual vs automated resource leveling.  I am actually a fan of automated where you can then baseline the project and do an "Undo" to bring your project back but see the status if it were leveled.  We will be looking to do that in the future.... a lot on our plate so not sure which release.

2) The calendar issue is interesting... we can check on it.  There are Project, Task and Resource calendars.  If a task calendar has it working it will show work if it is effort driven then you'll have an extended duration.   We can check though...

1) Got it. I am for automated too. I'm working on sizeable projects and manual resource management is challenging.

2) Close program. Open program. Reload project. Problem gone...

Thanks!
