Having problems saving changes

All of a sudden I am unable to save changes to a Project. The "Save as" botton does nothing while the "Save" button and saving on exit appear to work but replace my file with on of 0 or <40kb (fortunately I've backed-up). Anyone having similar issues or any ideas? The application isn't shutting down properly either (all happening on multiple machines and even after re-intsalls).

Saving issue ?

That is very strange... was there anything strange going on with your computer ?  I'll check with the developers but we have never heard of that.... not that it helps you!  DId things get figured out ?

Saving issue

Seems to be related to the save location of the file. If I copy the file to a local location such as my C:/ drive or Desktop and work with it there, everything is fine. However, when I try to acess the file from the server where I'd prefer to keep it (for security, sharing, back-up etc purposes) it all goes to heck. So, for now, I can just keep moving it around and hope that I don't lose track of the correct version. Meanwhile, if you have any ideas about a fix I'd be keen to hear from you.

Thanks

I just had the same issue

I just had the same issue yesterday. I saved to a network drive, and when I opened the files they were blank.

I happend with two different files. I however had not backed up the files and lost everrything.

Agreed and working on a solution

This is a significant issue.... we are immediately working on a soluton.  It is very strange as it has not been isolated for the cause and happens very infrequently.  We hear about it for certain when it happens.... we are doing 2 things

  • Short term: we will have the project file stored both as a .pod and also automatically as an .xml file.  This will allow in the rare occasion there is an issue to recover from the .xml file
  • Long term: we are completely rewriting ProjectLibre and the new version will solve this problem.  We don't have a release date but are looking in the Summer timeframe.  It will be a modular OSGI rewrite that will provide tremendous benefits for the community and allow for extensions/connectors
