Modify spreadsheet and put the Actual column next to each other
You can modify the spreadsheet by dragging columns or inserting a column and select the columns you want to see
How do I enter actuals?
The only way I can seem to enter actuals in ProjectLibre is to add the "work" & "duration" columns to my GANTT chart and type values in there
Is there a better way? It's much easier in MS Project, which allows %complete to be added into "Task" dialogue

Awesome!
Good luck on your projects! Make sure to set your status update date!
Why cant Actual work exceed planned work?
I want to be able to see where an item may be going over planned duration or planned work but say I have planned duration of 1 day and actual is 2 days it will default the actual back to planned of 1 day.
Why does this happen and how do I change.
Ms Project will auto adjust the duration and following tasks to suit which I am not really interested in but I need to see visually where I am going over per task.
